KernowPrint Matt White Pro (HWT)

It’s official – KernowPrint Pro has been put to the test against the toughest of liquids, including rubbing alcohol, disinfectants and even domestic bleach.  The results are in…

Unlike many synthetic substrates, Kernow only produces optimised high-performance coatings that are resistant to a number of strong liquids that could otherwise compromise the print (and hygiene factor) of signs, menus and a number of other important printed materials across many sectors including healthcare, hospitality and engineering.

Resistance to Alcohols:

KernowPrint PRO is resistant to Industrial/hospital cleaning materials such as Ecolab® and Asepti-Steryl®, which typically have 50%+ alcohol content and wiping with a non-abrasive cloth will not affect the surface.

Strong alcohol-based cleaners such as rubbing alcohol (70% Isopropyl alcohol) and methylated spirits (c. 95% ethanol and c. 5% methanol) can be used, assuming the surface is wiped with a non-abrasive cloth. In the event of a spill or splash it is recommended that the material is allowed to dry naturally. In the event of prolonged immersion, it is recommended that the product is allowed to dry naturally without wiping the surface.

Resistance to cleaning materials:

KernowPrint PRO is dishwasher resistant. Dishwasher detergents such as Finish® PowerBall® (a mixture of phosphates, bleaching agents, surfactants and enzymes) will not damage the material surface.

Domestic dish detergents (diluted with water) such as Fairy™, Palmolive® and Dawn®, as well as store- branded detergents are suitable for cleaning. Their materials nominally contain a mixture of ethanol, glycol and surfactants.

Resistance to beverages:

KernowPrint PRO is resistant to non-alcoholic drinks such as coffee, tea, fruit juices, milk and fizzy drinks, such as Coca Cola® and Sprite®. The material will withstand splashes and immersion without damage.  KernowPrint PRO is also resistant to alcoholic beverages such as beers (c. 5% abv) and wines (c. 12% abv).

When it comes to spirits such as vodka (c. 37.5% abv), the material will withstand splashes or immersion and can be subsequently wiped. KernowPrint PRO will withstand immersion in 40% vol liqueurs.

Resistance to condiments:

KernowPrint PRO is resistant to condiments such as ketchup, mustard, oils and vinaigrettes. In the event of splashes, the excess can be removed from the material surface with a non-abrasive cloth. Dried material can be removed by re-wetting with a damp, non-abrasive cloth.

Resistance to motor trade products:

KernowPrint PRO will withstand petrol (Petroleum Spirit) and diesel splashes only. In the event of a splash it is recommended that the material is allowed to dry naturally. Immersing the material in petrol will not damage the coated and imaged surface. Immersing the material in petrol will, however, damage the toner image.

Brake cleaner (GEN 456) will not damage the surface of imaged and non-imaged areas; it quickly evaporates leaving no mark.

KernowPrint PRO is resistant to motor oil, Castrol™ lubricating grease and maintenance sprays such as WD-40® (a proprietary blend of mineral spirits and oils). In the event of splashes, the excess can be removed from the material surface with a non-abrasive cloth. A greasy (glossy) stain may remain. This can be removed by immersing the material in warm soapy (dish detergent) water for c. 2 hours and drying with a non-abrasive cloth.
