Conversion Team Leader

PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF THE JOB:
The Team Leader is responsible for leading and coordinating the day-to-day operation of the conversion department - Process through to Product into Despatch. This role ensures operational efficiency, strong customer satisfaction, and supports strategic business growth.
POSITION IN ORGANISATION:
Reports To: Process & Quality Manager
Responsible For: 14 Direct reports, Department day-to-day operations.
Budget Responsibilities: No budget responsibilities
QUALIFICATION REQUIRED:
- Previous Leadership role / demonstration of within a Manufacturing Environment – Essential
- Lean Six Sigma certification (Green Belt preferred)
- Apply Lean Six Sigma methodologies (DMAIC, Kaizen, Root Cause Analysis) to improve processes
- Monitor KPIs and ensure adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs)
- Problem Solving / Process Improvement skills or qualifications – Desirable
- Performance management Experience – Essential
- Proven experience in a planning or scheduling role, preferably within a manufacturing environment – Essential.

DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Apply Lean Six Sigma methodologies (DMAIC, Kaizen, Root Cause Analysis) to improve processes
- Monitor KPIs and ensure adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs)
- Lead a team of operators within the department undertaking performance reviews, management of holiday schedules and absence management.
- Develop and maintain conversion schedules to ensure timely delivery of orders.
- Plan and coordinate the use of eight conversion assets and packing area.
- Collaborate with production, sales, and customer service teams to align schedules with customer requirements.
- Monitor progress and adjust plans as necessary to address any delays or changes in priority.
- Proactively identify potential bottlenecks and implement solutions to maintain workflow efficiency.
- Communicate lead times and any changes effectively to all stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate records and reports on production and conversion activities.
- Continuously seek opportunities to improve planning processes and efficiency

Chemist
Role: Chemist
Location: R & D - Lab

MAIN PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF THE JOB:
- Support New Product Development covering aspects of new product design, development, fabrication, and testing.
- Provide Technical Support for Production Department.
- Develop new standards for production and design, with improvements as needed.
- To make the research samples using R&D lab equipment to fulfill sales requests.
- Record, analyse and interpret results using structured methodologies to generate appropriate conclusions and recommendations for both new product development and technical support to production.
- Support in the formulating of functional surface coatings for application to flexible substrates.
- Pursue continuing education on new solutions, technology, and skills.
POSITION IN ORGANISATION:

QUALIFICATION / SKILL SET REQUIRED
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent higher scientific certification -
- Previous experience of working as a Junior Chemist, Senior Laboratory Technician, or applicable scientific role -
- Previous experience of working in Research & Development laboratory preferably within a Specialised Coating Applications environment -
- Experience within a manufacturing environment, where there is a requirement to understand technical processes - ESSENTIAL.
- Proven hands-on knowledge of and passion for continuous improvement and problem-solving techniques Kaizen, Lean 6 Sigma, RCA - DESIREABLE Resilient and results oriented, with a strong quality focus and the ability to work to deadlines.
- Good IT skills, especially excel, word, power point.
- Disciplined and self-motivated with the ability to work with minimal supervision.
DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Record, analyse and interpret results to generate appropriate conclusions and recommendations focusing on accuracy and completeness.
- The ability to progress projects with autonomy but also having the necessary interpersonal skills to integrate within a team for group communication & when projects dictate.
- Evaluating raw materials efficiently & selecting suitable chemistries for formulation.
- Provide Technical Support inc problem solving or Process Improvement for Production.
- Producing pilot coatings & employing test procedures for establishing functionality / performance s part of New Product Development or Problem Solving or Chemistry obsolescence
- Working with and communicating to key Stake Holders in Technical, Production & Sales to ensure the effective flow of information within the business.
- Make and test prototypes, or modified components or samples as required using a variety of techniques.
- Collaborate with Department Chemist (s) to provide support for root cause analysis.
- Incoming raw materials testing.
- Training of Production & Quality teams on key tests as part of their day-to-day.

Coating Machine Operative
Coating Machine Operative

MAIN PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF THE JOB:
- Manufacture of a wide range of high-performance coated products, coating substrates to a high-quality standard.
- Operation of large coating machinery.
- Collecting and safe handling of reels of substrate as detailed on the production programme.
- Safe collection of solution lacquers for use on the coating machines.
- Clean lacquer vats to a high standard upon completion on the coating machine.
- Follow safe procedure on cleaning machine upon completion of planned programme.

- Safe and timely removal of completed material.
- Correct handling and storage of finished material from machine, adhering to any specific storage instructions e.g., strapped, suspended, etc.
- Clean lacquer vats to a high standard following use on the machine and ensure their safe removal to vat storage area.
- Safe removal of liquid and solid waste from the production process.
- Monitor and maintain stock levels of ancillary items e.g., bags, bars, tape etc.
- Keep all work areas clean and tidy. (Cell leader is accountable, All responsible).
- Liaise with QC department to ensure quality standards are met.
- Liaise with other departments to ensuring the smooth running of the machine, i.e., Maintenance, Stores and R&D.

Mechanical Engineer
Mechanical Engineer
Location: Penryn

MAIN PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF THE JOB:
Troubleshooting / repairing of said assets and systems across the Penryn site. To minimize downtime while adhering to Health & Safety procedures and regulations. Undertaking Preventative Maintenance of site assets and leading site projects as and when required in conjunction with the Engineering Manager
The role requires a proactive individual with proven day-2-day mechanical engineering time served, problem-solving skills, technical expertise, and a commitment to improving Operational Efficiency.
POSITION IN ORGANISATION:
Reports To: Engineering Manager.
Responsible For: Day-2-Day tasks and repairs +Individual and small project management.
Budget Responsibilities: N/A.
DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Key Responsibilities:
1. Maintenance & Repairs:
- Preventive maintenance on all site assets and systems to ensure optimal performance.
- Respond quickly to breakdowns, diagnosing the issue and repair in an efficient and timely manner.
- Ensure all machinery complies with current Health and Safety regulations.
2. Troubleshooting:
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and software issues in machinery or systems.
- Use tools, problem solving methodologies and diagnostic equipment to identify issues and determine necessary actions to restore functionality.
- Record all maintenance activities in detailed logs.
3. Equipment Upgrades & Modifications:
- Recommend and implement upgrades to existing equipment to improve efficiency, safety, or energy consumption.
- Work with vendors or manufacturers to acquire replacement parts or new machinery when necessary.
4. Technical Support:
- Provide technical support and advice to operators and other personnel on safe equipment use and maintenance.
- Conduct training sessions or demonstrations for staff on operating machinery correctly.
5. Safety Compliance:
- Ensure all maintenance work complies with health and safety regulations and company policies.
- Perform risk assessments and implement safety measures for both routine and emergency maintenance tasks.
- Ensure all tools and equipment used are maintained to a high standard of safety.
6. Inventory Management:
- Maintain and manage spare parts inventory, ensuring critical parts are always available.
- Work with suppliers to order materials and equipment for maintenance activities.
7. Reporting & Documentation:
- Keep accurate records of all maintenance activities, repairs, parts used, and costs.
- Report on equipment performance, recommending improvements or replacements.
- Maintain up-to-date records for regulatory compliance.
QUALIFICATION REQUIRED:
Qualifications:
- Education: Qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Additional certifications (e.g., Six Sigma, PMP) are a plus.
- Experience:2-5 years of experience in a maintenance or engineering role (specific industry experience preferred, e.g., manufacturing, utilities, etc.).Familiarity with equipment such as Lathes, Pillar Drills , Welding equipment etc.Hands-on experience with preventative maintenance and repair techniques.
- Technical Skills:Strong mechanical knowledge and electrical, and electronic knowledge would be an advantage.Proficiency with diagnostic tools, power tools, and hand tools.Knowledge of PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), or relevant automation systems is a plus.
- Soft Skills:Excellent problem-solving skills.Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.Ability to work under pressure and handle emergency situations.Effective communication skills for coordinating with team members, suppliers, and management
Working Conditions:
- Full-time, 37.5 Hrs Per week – 07.00 – 15.00 daily
- Overtime occasional or situation based, no guarantee
- On-call availability for emergencies, once probation is complete
