MAIN PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF THE JOB:
- Manufacture of a wide range of high-performance coated products, coating substrates to a high-quality standard.
- Operation of large coating machinery.
- Collecting and safe handling of reels of substrate as detailed on the production programme.
- Safe collection of solution lacquers for use on the coating machines.
- Clean lacquer vats to a high standard upon completion on the coating machine.
- Follow safe procedure on cleaning machine upon completion of planned programme.
POSITION IN ORGANISATION:
Reports To: Operations Manager (Cell Leader) – Cell leader (No.2 /3)
Responsible For: All H& S, Output and Well Being of team (Cell leader)
Budget Responsibilities: N/A
QUALIFICATION REQUIRED – Desirable for all posts:
- Proven leadership within a continuous manufacturing environment.
- Lean Six Sigma & Problem-solving Experience – Desirable.
- Green belt – Six Sigma qualification – Desirable.
- Previous experience of working in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience of handling material for storage and/or for packaging.
- Experience of working on production plans.
DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Consult weekly programme and work with Coating team Leader & operations Manager to prepare machine for upcoming coating run.
- Effective Hand Over, ensuring Key information or escalations are communicated
- Timely and accurately complete all Operational paperwork and production monitoring systems, Daily, Weekly
- Production run reports
- Reel tickets

- Run log
- Thing Trax
- Training of all Staff (New and Existing) in all tasks to undertake their duties, I.E – Web paths, Setting machine etc.
- Select and load correct substrates as indicated on the programme.
- Set up and maintain coating head in readiness for plan.
- Monitor machine during coating run to ensure high standards of quality are consistently met. (All responsible)
- Safe and timely removal of completed material.
- Correct handling and storage of finished material from machine, adhering to any specific storage instructions e.g., strapped, suspended, etc.
- Clean lacquer vats to a high standard following use on the machine and ensure their safe removal to vat storage area.
- Safe removal of liquid and solid waste from the production process.
- Monitor and maintain stock levels of ancillary items e.g., bags, bars, tape etc.
- Keep all work areas clean and tidy. (Cell leader is accountable, All responsible).
- Liaise with QC department to ensure quality standards are met.
- Liaise with other departments to ensuring the smooth running of the machine, i.e., Maintenance, Stores and R&D.

- To ensure that all work activities are conducted in accordance with all applicable Safe Working Procedures and any specific instructions given in the interest of Health & Safety.
- To report, and where possible prevent, unsafe practices, including horseplay, which may pose a risk to any person(s).
TRAINING:
- To undertake any training as required for the role and in the interests of current Health & Safety policies.
- To undertake any additional training courses, seminars etc. to support the role, and that of fulfillment of the tasks within the role.
