Warehouse Operator – Coating and Conversion

Cornwall, UK

MAIN PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF THE JOB:

  • Delivering raw material base product to Coating machines and finished base product to conversion.
  • Respond to enquiries from relevant departments
  • Load and unloading of transport vehicles
  • Maintain relationships and communication with relevant departments, primarily converting.
  • Keep work areas organized, clean, and tidy.

POSITION IN ORGANISATION:

Reports To:                               Despatch Lead

Responsible For:                       Day to day warehouse tasks as directed

QUALIFICATION REQUIRED:

  • Count Counterbalance FLT License
  • Reach Truck FLT License
  • Warehouse experience – Essential

 

DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Load and unload vehicles and complete any paperwork in relation to external or internal deliveries when required.
  • Put coated stock away in racking.
  • Supply the Purchasing Assistant with green tickets.
  • Assist in warehouse stock count.
  • Supply conversion with bases as specified by the dept planner.
  • Ensure that all warehouse areas are clean and tidy.
  • Supply conversion with empty bins.
  • Supply conversion with pallets.
  • Lock/unlock gates when required.
  • Liaise with CV planning on any day-to-day issues.
  • Carry out forklift checks if trained.
  • Put forklifts on charge if trained.
  • Turning and packing mill reels for Despatch when required.

Conversion Operative

MAIN PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF THE JOB:

 To undertake activities in support of converting raw material to finished product and delivery into Despatch. Requirement also to undertake activities in support of Despatch as governed by both the Process Manager & Supply Chain Manager.

POSITION IN ORGANISATION:

Responsible For:                       No line management responsibilities

Budget Responsibilities:             No budget responsibilities

QUALIFICATION REQUIRED:

  • Problem-solving Experience – Desirable.
  • Previous experience of working in a manufacturing environment
  • Previous experience of running conversion machines in paper or similar media industries.
  • Packing in a FMCG environment, desirable.
  • Experience of handling material for storage and/or for packaging

 

DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Once trained to Operate the following machines / Equipment
    • Sheeting Machines (PEMCO or STRACHAN)
    • Re reelers (Reel to Reel conversion)
    • REFLEX – Label / Perf (Reel to Sheet)
    • ELITE – Reel to Reel Conversion
    • Pallet Wrapper
    • Guillotine (Folio to finished sheet conversion)
    • Sheet counting and tabbing
  • Packing of finished material for either stock or customer orders
  • Delivery of materials to workstations (Boxes, layer pads etc.)
  • If trained, support other areas of the manufacturing department (I.e Coating)
  • Participate in Process Improvement activities
  • 5S and housekeeping activities
  • Support and liaise with Customer Service team.
  • To unlock and lock premises when required

Coating Machine Operative

MAIN PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF THE JOB:

  • Manufacture of a wide range of high-performance coated products, coating substrates to a high-quality standard.
  • Operation of large coating machinery.
  • Collecting and safe handling of reels of substrate as detailed on the production programme.
  • Safe collection of solution lacquers for use on coating machines.
  • Clean lacquer vats to a high standard upon completion on the coating machine.
  • Follow safe procedure on cleaning machine upon completion of planned programme.

POSITION IN ORGANISATION:

QUALIFICATION REQUIRED:

  • Lean Six Sigma & Problem-solving Experience – Desirable. (All)
  • Green belt – Six Sigma qualification – Desirable. (All)
  • Previous experience of working in a manufacturing environment. (All)
  • Experience of handling material for storage and/or for packaging. (All)
  • Experience of working to production plans.

DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Effective Hand Over, ensuring Key information or escalations are communicated.
  • Timely and accurately complete all Operational paperwork and production monitoring systems, Daily, Weekly

  • Select and load correct substrates as indicated on the programme.
  • Set up and maintain coating head in readiness for plan.

  • Safe and timely removal of completed material.
  • Correct handling and storage of finished material from machine, adhering to any specific storage instructions e.g., strapped, suspended, etc.
  • Clean lacquer vats to a high standard following use on the machine and ensure their safe removal to vat storage area.
  • Safe removal of liquid and solid waste from the production process.
  • Monitor and maintain stock levels of ancillary items e.g., bags, bars, tape etc.
  • Keep all work areas clean and tidy. (Cell leader is accountable, All responsible).
  • Liaise with QC department to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Liaise with other departments to ensuring the smooth running of the machine, i.e., Maintenance, Stores and R&D.
